The forum through which the Secretary-General of the United Nations handles security, military and foreign policy.
The Security Council is where the Secretary-General of the United Nations takes up questions of security, military action and foreign policy. It advises and assists the Secretary-General, and it is the arm through which those policies get coordinated across the UN's agencies. Its membership is no longer a set of sovereign states holding vetoes, as it was three centuries ago when Earth still had nations. It seats the Secretary-General, the Under-Secretaries-General, admirals of the United Nations Navy, generals of the Marine Corps, and the senior national security and foreign policy advisors. Anything past Earth's own sphere reaches the Secretary-General through it, and in an emergency it works as a direct extension of that office.
