The single government of Earth and Luna, built out of nations that surrendered their sovereignty to it.
Earth and Luna are governed by the United Nations, a single sovereign federation formed when the planet's nation-states gave up their individual sovereignty to it. The Secretariat, headed by the Secretary-General, is the executive; the General Assembly makes law from New York City, and the Court of Justice sits on Luna. A Security Council handles everything past Earth's own sphere, from Mars to the settlements strung through the Belt. Two services answer to it, the United Nations Navy and the United Nations Marine Corps. The ecological recovery programs it imposed on a wrecked biosphere are still running centuries later, and it still administers a crowded, badly overpopulated homeworld.
