Tycho Station is a mobile construction platform in the Belt, the first Expanse novel, as one of the great engineering sites of the Solar System. Owned by Tycho Manufacturing, the station is a working shipyard wrapped around its signature project: the Nauvoo, a generation ship commissioned by the Mormon church for humanity's first attempt at an interstellar voyage. The station is run by Fred Johnson, a former United Nations colonel whose name carries weight across the Belt and who is widely tied to the Outer Planets Alliance, the Belt's loose political movement. Amid the system-wide tension that follows the destruction of the ice hauler Canterbury, Tycho is a place where Belter politics, corporate engineering, and the crew of the Rocinante intersect.
