The Scopuli is a light freighter of Martian registry out of Eros.
Armored men seize the Scopuli and shut Julie Mao, taken from it, in a storage locker aboard their own ship for eight days. When she breaks out, the sensor logs she can reach show no trace of it. Far off, the Canterbury, hauling a load of ice past a million tons, must flip and burn hard for almost two days to answer the call. Captain McDowell dreads the delay, but Holden insists they stop, joking that there may be salvage.
