Ren (Books)
Ren is a Belter electrochemical technician and Melba Koh's official second on a maintenance crew, a man of few words who loves environmental control systems and does not say how he came to an Earth ship.
When Stanni grumbles over a private channel that their new chief knows nothing, Ren neither defends her nor joins in, and when Stanni credits him with catching the chief's brownout buffer mistake the week before, he only grunts that he might have. He is tall enough to hunch under most ceilings. Sifting the ships' passive gas monitoring, he finds an odd trace, builds a profile that fits a moldable explosive and brings it privately to their chief.
