Raptor-class fast attack cruiser

Mars builds the Raptor-class to accelerate hard and run down whatever it is chasing. Its yards spared nothing on the design: the best scanning gear and weapons in the fleet, keel-mounted railguns firing fore and aft, and plasma torpedo bays at the bow, along both flanks, and tucked into the stern above the Epstein drives. It carries up to three Troika-class dropships with marines and Force Recon aboard. The hull is sleek and pin-shaped, and between that shape and the drives it is unusually maneuverable for a cruiser, which lets it put itself where it can do the most damage. The cost of all that hardware is upkeep. A Raptor needs constant attention and a considerably larger crew than a ship its size would otherwise carry, and Mars builds fewer of them than Earth builds of its equivalents.
