Phoebe

Phoebe is a small moon of Saturn that carries an outsized weight. An irregular lump of ice on a retrograde orbit, it is thought to have drifted in from the Kuiper Belt and been captured by Saturn's gravity rather than forming with the planet, which makes it an oddity worth studying in a system humanity has otherwise thoroughly mapped. Phoebe hosts a small scientific station, a joint venture between Martian researchers and corporate scientists, and to nearly everyone in the Solar System it is a forgettable dot in Saturn's sky. The attention the moon draws, and what the study of it has to do with the unfolding crisis, is part of its own story.
