An older class of light United Nations Navy warship, refitted rather than scrapped to serve as dedicated escorts and usually found on rear-echelon duty at the back of a fleet.
The Phantom-class escort is a light warship flown by the United Nations Navy. It is an old design. Building ships purely to escort others is rarely judged worth the budget, since high-value people and equipment can travel in larger hulls instead, so rather than retire and scrap the Phantoms already in service the UNN refitted them as dedicated escorts. Most are found on rear-echelon work, bringing up the back of a fleet.
