Rapid-fire projectile guns mounted across a warship's hull, aimed by fire control radar and used mostly to destroy incoming missiles.
Every warship in service carries point defense cannons, rapid-fire projectile guns whose main job is shooting down incoming missiles before they arrive. Radar fire control aims them, because no human gunner can track a torpedo closing at combat speeds, though a person still picks which target each gun works on. At short range they double as ship-to-ship weapons and can be walked across a hull or fired down onto people. Manufacturers differ by navy: Mikazuki Munitions and Redfield Ballistics arm United Nations ships, Nariman Dynamics arms Martian ones, and Kess-Hashari builds for the Belt. A full PDC network wrapped around a hull is what a captain counts on when the missiles are already in the air.
