Pallas

Pallas is one of the great rocks of the Asteroid Belt in The Expanse, part of the Belt's economic backbone from Leviathan Wakes, onward. The third-largest asteroid in the Belt, it hosts Pallas Station, among the oldest human outposts in the outer Solar System, built around refineries that process the ore the Belt's mining ships bring in. Unlike Ceres, Pallas was never spun up for artificial gravity: its people live and work in the asteroid's own microgravity, about two percent of Earth's pull, and generations of that life have given Pallas Belters some of the most pronounced low-gravity physiology anywhere in the system. Hard, old, and essential, the station is the kind of place the inner planets depend on and rarely think about, which is the Belt's grievance in miniature.
