Medina Station is the name of a station in The Expanse, and the name enters the story late in Abaddon's Gate, the third novel, then stands near the center of the volumes that follow. The series begins with humanity confined to the Solar System: Earth run by the United Nations, Mars an independent military power, the Belt a resentful working class strung across asteroids and stations, and James Holden's crew aboard the Rocinante crossing between them. Medina is not part of that opening map. What kind of place it is, where it sits, and why so much of the late series orbits around it are bound up with developments Abaddon's Gate introduces, and the station's story belongs to that novel and the ones after it.
