Martian Congressional Republic Navy
The Martian Congressional Republic Navy (MCRN) is the naval force of the Martian Congressional Republic (MCR), and the most important branch of its military.
The letters MCRN, for Martian Congressional Republic Navy, begin a serial number stamped into the black metal underneath a battery. The battery comes out of a transmitter from the Scopuli that is otherwise generic enough to have come from any vessel in the solar system. James Holden broadcasts the find, saying that his ship, the Canterbury, has been destroyed by a stealth warship whose parts appear to carry Martian navy serial numbers.
Holden's employers, P and K, pass on word that the MCR is upset at what it views as unfounded accusations of piracy against its government, and that the MCRN is sending the Donnager, one of its ships in the Jupiter system, to pick up Holden's crew and look into the loss of the Canterbury. P and K order the crew to cooperate with the Donnager and with any MCRN officer.
