Mao-Kwikowski Mercantile, called Maokwik, is a powerful Luna-based corporation and the family firm of Julie Mao, the daughter Detective Miller is assigned to find on Ceres.
It ranks in the upper fifty of the Belt's companies. It began as a law firm caught up in the ruinous collapse of the Venusian cloud city project, and the fortune won in that long lawsuit paid for its growth into interplanetary transport. Its independent station drifts in the gulf separating the inner worlds from the Belt, and its offices on Luna and in the Belt are the source of fifty messages Miller finds among the missing daughter's things.
