Lagrange stations

A Lagrange station is a space station parked at a Lagrange point, where the pull of two bodies balances out, whether that is a star and a planet or a planet and a moon. In the Sol system the term almost always means the thousands of stations sitting in the Lagrange points of the Sun and Earth. Each point holds a volume roughly eight hundred thousand kilometres across, so even at the crowded L4 and L5 no station can see its neighbour without a telescope. Most spin for gravity, usually at the low end because spin costs money, and past that they have almost nothing in common: governments and corporations own them, and they serve as defence posts, repair yards, entertainment districts, offices and private retreats. Getting out to one takes days, so regular travellers keep a rhythm of a few days on station and a few days at home.
