The Laconian Imperial Navy is the name of a military force in The Expanse, and it belongs to the series' final third, entering the story in Persepolis Rising, the seventh novel. Nothing like it exists when the series opens: the fleets of the early books are the United Nations Navy of Earth, the Martian Congressional Republic Navy, and the improvised armed ships of the Belt, all contending inside a single Solar System while James Holden and the crew of the Rocinante thread between them. The name itself says only what kind of thing this is, a navy in service to something called Laconia. Where that navy comes from, what it flies, and what it wants are part of the story Persepolis Rising begins, and they belong to the series' closing volumes.
