Laconia gate is the name of a location that belongs to a later time. Both words in the name point far ahead: neither a place called Laconia nor anything called a gate belongs to the days when the whole of humanity lives inside one Solar System, divided among Earth under the United Nations, an independent military Mars, and the Belt's scattered stations and ships.
