An interrogation method that turns a Belter's low-gravity physiology against them, holding a prisoner clamped upright under Earth's heavier pull until the pain makes them talk.
Gravity torture is an interrogation method used against Belters, most often on Earth. Belters grow up in low gravity and their bodies adapt to it, so a much stronger pull is not merely uncomfortable for them but punishing, and some intelligence services on Earth have learned to turn that adaptation against them. The prisoner is brought down the gravity well and clamped to a wall under the arms, so that they either stand upright or hang from their own weight, which is now more than their muscles were built to carry. Held that way for hours or days, the pain is meant to make them talk. The method is illegal, a violation of human rights, and the United Nations Secretary-General has publicly disavowed its use.
