Earth administrative zones

Earth has no countries any more. When environmental damage threatened the whole biosphere, the old nation-states ceded their sovereignty to the United Nations, and the planet was redrawn into regional administrative zones, most of them named Shared Interest Zones. Their boundaries follow what the people inside them are held to have in common rather than any older national line. Some carry the geography they cover, such as the Brazilian, West African, North American and Persian Gulf zones; others keep older regional names, like Maharshta-Karnataka-Goa or Krasnoyarsk-Sakha. A few are styled differently again, among them the Washington Administrative Zone.
