Cotyar (Books)
Cotyar is the head of Chrisjen Avasarala's UN security team, a gray-haired Kurdish man with a pleasant face who looks more like a friendly teacher than a soldier and works with practiced efficiency.
Aboard a ship they do not control, Cotyar warns that a room is unsafe for private talk, sweeps her quarters for listening devices and points out how easily a hostile crew could kill them all by sealing a deck and venting it. He winks at the joke that his job at dinner is to look menacing, and he backs Bobbie when she argues for seizing a shuttle. Avasarala counts him a decent man, and his disapproval stings her.
