The Consolidated Fleet is the name of a combined naval force that belongs to a later period. An earlier period offers nothing consolidated at all: its Solar System is defined by division, with Earth's United Nations Navy and the Martian Congressional Republic Navy watching each other across a cold rivalry while the Belt's stations field improvised armed ships and deeper grievances. James Holden and the crew of the Rocinante spend that earlier period crossing those lines rather than erasing them.
