Body Privacy law
A United Nations law under which implanted technology cannot be taken out of a person without consent, legal or not, convicted or not, leaving UN prisons to hold inmates whose modifications stay in them.
Body Privacy law is a United Nations law that applies on Earth and inside the UN trade zones. It holds that technology implanted in a person's body cannot be taken out of them without their consent, whatever that technology is: it makes no difference whether the implant is legal or illegal, or whether its owner has been convicted of a crime. The consequence falls on the prison system, which has to hold people with their modifications still in them, and facilities such as the maximum security prison in the Chesapeake Conservancy Area keep special medical confinement blocks for inmates who cannot have their implants removed, or who decline to.
