Belter is the name for the people of the Belt, fifty to a hundred million of them depending on who is counting, whose long, thin bones a gravity-raised man like Jim Holden has never grown accustomed to.
Belters can be very tall, like Naomi Nagata at almost two meters, and a Martian-raised frame looks thick beside theirs. They shrug with their hands instead of their shoulders, one of many gestures grown up so they can be seen through an environment suit. Some take fierce pride in their own work, like the crewman who would rather have a Belter-built artificial arm than one the Inners grow in a lab.
