Auberon is the name of a world in The Expanse, and it belongs to the series' final third, entering the story around Persepolis Rising, the seventh novel, and lending its name to one of the series' novellas. No such place exists in the books' opening frame: Leviathan Wakes begins in a Solar System that holds all of humanity, split among Earth under the United Nations, an independent military Mars, and the working stations of the Belt, with James Holden and the crew of the Rocinante crossing among them. Auberon is not on that map. Where the world is, who lives there, and how it comes to hold a place in the story are matters the late volumes and the novella introduce on their own terms, and the name is best understood as belonging to them.
