Arjun (Books)

Arjun is a professor of romantic and Sufi poetry on Earth and the husband of Chrisjen Avasarala. He has an angular face and a close-cut beard gone almost entirely white, with two scars on his throat beneath it. He argues for simple living and contemplation, which sets him against his wife's hard practical reading of power and people, and he is devoted to her without ever adopting her world. Retired from politics, he keeps the kind of quiet home she can return to in her mind when she cannot return in person, reading their granddaughter's thesis and letting the days stay slow. He once asked Chrisjen whether she minded that he lived his life with his head in the clouds. She said she did not.
