In The Breaker, Yae-Won Gwanju is an elder of the Martial Arts Alliance and master of the Artists' Society, a small, cane carrying old woman who is kind, mischievous and hard to impress.
Yae-Won Gwanju sits among the elders of the Martial Arts Alliance in The Breaker and is the master of the Artists' Society, which carries her school's particular teaching within the Murim. She is an old woman, very short in stature, dressed in a hanbok and usually walking with a cane.
She is kind and considerate in her dealings with people, and she does not carry the martial world's grudges into a lesson; she is willing to teach anyone she judges worth teaching, whatever their history. There is a mischievous streak in her that shows up mostly at the expense of the people closest to her. She is not easy to impress, and impressing her is rare enough to be worth remarking on.
