Martial skill in The Breaker is graded across the Murim, running from beginner and practitioner through expert and master to the rare advanced masters and real masters at the top.
The Murim in The Breaker sorts its members by how far their martial arts have progressed, and the ladder runs from beginner up through practitioner, expert, master, advanced master and real master. A beginner is exactly that, someone starting out, usually taught in a group under a single school, whose training is mostly meditation to learn how to gather and distribute Ki plus strength work to keep the body in step with it. Even at that level a murim-in is already beyond ordinary people.
A practitioner has the basics of gathering and circulating Ki and average skill in the forms. An expert has reached high skill in one particular area while the rest stays ordinary. A master commands both a martial form and a Ki circulation technique and can take students, and this is where most murim-in stop. Above that the gaps widen sharply.
