Joo Sang-Shik heads the Heung-In Hospital in The Breaker: New Waves and is counted among the Ten Grand Masters of the Murim. He looks like an old Korean man of short stature and wrinkled skin, in traditional Korean clothes and sometimes a full length cloak, with a western style hat, small round glasses, his hair pulled back into a long ponytail, an unkempt beard of about the same length, and a crooked smile missing a good many teeth.
He is abrasive with everyone. He ignores formalities, including the ones owed to him, swears constantly, berates the people around him and accepts no excuse for failure of any kind. For all of that he refuses to win by underhanded means, and he scolds anyone he catches using them.
