Yarrowdale
Yarrowdale is a hot, steaming port town of Yarrow and the home of the Shroud, and its post station sends and receives orders around the clock.
Yarrowdale grips the curve of a cliff above the Bay of Yarrow, clustered like barnacles, then funnels south to the Great Canals that link the bay with the River Asigis. It is a port town, its piers crowded with fishing junkers, lumbering barges and oyster cogs, and jungle-draped hills rise around it.
The town falls into three parts along the bay. New Town, at the southeast end, belongs to the Iyalets, who refine precursors and reagents there and ship them out by canal, and its houses are made of fretvine. Old Town, nearly an hour's walk away, is the first seat of the Yarrow kings, a district of tall, somber buildings in pale stone stained faintly green, with coral designs along their roofs and columns, though many of them lean or slump. Farthest northwest, up in the ranges, is the High City, where the Yarrow king lives with his royal retinue.
