Soul Land III: Legend of the Dragon King centers on Tang Wulin, a boy raised in a hard-pressed working family on the Douluo Continent of a much more modern age, an era of soul devices, soul trains, and academies in every city. He grows up short of money but not of care, and the household's plain circumstances leave him more sensible and mature than most children his age.
He is honest and kindhearted, the sort to step in when a stranger needs help, and relentlessly hardworking in his training and his chores alike. With short black hair, large clear eyes, and a build slightly taller than his classmates, he draws attention even in a commoner's clothes as he starts down the ordinary path of a young spirit master: the awakening every child undergoes at six, and school.
