Before the Douluo Continent ever appears in Soul Land, the first series opens inside the Tang Sect, a secretive order of assassins at Hell's Peak known for hidden weapons, poisons, and lightness skill. Centuries of accumulated technique separate it from every imitator: its mechanisms cannot be copied by outsiders, and even a disciple needs years of arduous study to use them properly.
The sect divides into an Outer Sect, which favors mechanical hidden weapons and the use of poison, and an Inner Sect, where genuine technique is handed down directly from master to disciple and demanding courses such as the Purple Demon Eye and the Mysterious Jade Hand are required. The series' protagonist begins his story as one of its outer disciples.
