Second Awakening

The Second Awakening belongs to body spirits alone, an evolution of the martial soul that lets a body spirit rise one level above what other souls reach. The Body Sect sorts the results into four grades, read off the light projection that appears behind a spirit master as the evolved abilities come out. An iron-ranked awakening throws a black projection carrying a metal glow and raises fighting strength by thirty percent or more. Bronze shows a bronze glow and about sixty percent. Silver appears only in the more important parts of the body, the skeleton or the head, and can double fighting strength or lift it a whole level. Gold is the rarest and most frightening, its projection golden and its power able to triple ordinary offensive strength, at a price: the stronger the awakening, the heavier the drain, and gold can empty a spirit master's life power entirely.
