S-Rank

Every awakened human in Solo Leveling is graded from E up to S, and S-Rank sits at the top of that ladder. The rank exists as a category of its own because the mana meters used to grade hunters cannot read the people in it: their output runs past the limits of the equipment, so no ceiling is set on S-Rank the way one is set on every grade below. Only a handful exist in each country and a few hundred worldwide, which keeps demand for them permanent and makes most of them wealthy several times over. Because there is no cap, the distance between two S-Ranks can be enormous, and two of them are almost impossible to compare by raw power alone. International standing is tracked instead through a point system built on achievements, maintained by the Federal Bureau of Hunters.
