Up-Top

The Up Top is the silo's highest stretch of floors, the closest its people come to the surface of the world. Its centerpiece is the cafeteria, where a great wallscreen shows the view outside: a grey, ruined landscape under a sickly sky, relayed from sensors mounted above. People eat their meals in front of that view, celebrate under it, and grow up assuming it. The sheriff's office sits just off the cafeteria with its holding cell, and beyond that waits the sealed airlock, the silo's single door to the outside. The upper levels hold apartments and offices as well, but the top floor is the silo's face: the place people climb to when they want to see the forbidden world they are never allowed to touch.
