Marck

Marck is a senior mechanic of the down deep, an oilman with years on the silo's machines and grease worked permanently into his knuckles. He is part of the crew around the main generator, trusted with the heavy, unglamorous jobs: tightening floor mounts, standing watch over a running machine, hauling what needs hauling. He is married to Shirly, a foreman on the same floors, and the two of them are fixtures of Mechanical's close, joking family. Loyal and plainspoken, Marck saves his faith for the people he works beside, Juliette among them, and has little patience for the distant departments far above that decide how the down deep lives.
