Knox

Knox is the chief of Mechanical, master of the silo's deepest working floors, where the main generator turns and the machine shops never quite go quiet. He is a massive, gruff man with a voice that carries over engines, and he runs the down deep with an authority built from years of keeping everyone above him alive without their noticing. He is protective of his people, slow to trust visitors from the up top, and hard to read even when he is being friendly. When Mayor Jahns and Deputy Marnes arrive on his floors to recruit one of his best mechanics for the sheriff's post, Knox receives them with careful courtesy, hands them off to a young shadow for the tour, and keeps his own opinions about the up top's intentions to himself.
