Dawson

Dawson is a mechanic of the silo's down deep, where he serves as a shift foreman among the machine crews. He is management of the working kind: the foreman who carries out instructions exactly, keeps a crew moving through the night shift, and can be left in charge without anyone losing sleep over it. Years on the machines have given him a supervisor's eye for method, a preference for doing a job in careful stages over doing it loudly, and enough standing that the men and women under him take his word without needing it repeated. When a task is delicate, dangerous, or simply endless, Dawson is the name that ends up on the roster.
