Charlotte

Charlotte is Donald's younger sister, a military pilot serving overseas. She flies drones, waging war through a screen from a station half a world away from the battlefield, a job she is good at and ambivalent about in the way of someone who sees exactly what her skill accomplishes. To Donald she is the family member he is closest to: the sibling he trades messages with, worries over, and measures himself against. She is capable, dry-humored, and tougher on herself than on anyone else. She is far from Georgia and from her brother's new political life, present mostly in calls and messages home, a steady voice from a distant war.
