Scottie

Scottie is a young technician who came up in Mechanical, learning electronics in the down deep before IT recruited him away to its own guarded floors near the silo's middle. The move carried him a hundred levels from the people who raised him in the trade, and he has never quite stopped being one of them. He is young, clever, and easily flustered, happiest at a workbench with a problem in front of him and awkward nearly everywhere else. The mechanics still count him as their own: Walker trained him like a son in the old workshop, and Juliette, who worked beside him in the down deep, trusts him more than almost anyone above the hundredth floor. In IT he keeps his head down, does careful work, and misses the noise of the deep floors more than he admits.
