Courtnee

Courtnee is a young plumber of the down deep, part of the Mechanical family that keeps the silo's water moving through miles of pipe. She appears partway through Wool, one of the capable younger workers around the machine shops and mess hall of the deep floors. What distinguishes her from the first moment is attentiveness: she is the one who notices when an older colleague needs a hand, steadies people without being asked, and stays close when staying close is what helps. Practical in her trade and warm in her manner, she is quick to ask the bigger question behind a job as well, wanting to know not just what needs doing but why it matters. In a department that values competence above almost everything, Courtnee is trusted early with the care of people as much as pipes.
