The Solar System is the span of moons and planets that humanity colonized by way of Luna, Earth's moon, the port through which settlement spread outward.
Spaceflight is hard to launch from Earth, so for seven hundred years humanity has spread outward through its moon. When the wealthy of Luna rebel against the countries of Earth and win, the Society grows into an empire built on Red labor. Reds mine helium-3 on Mars, the fuel for terraforming other worlds, and the small moons and most planets are made livable, though not the gas giants.
