Solar system
The Solar System is the setting of the whole Red Rising saga: the Sun's worlds from Mercury to Pluto, settled and ruled by the color-coded Society from Luna, with Golds at the apex.
All of Pierce Brown's Red Rising saga plays out inside the Solar System, the Sun and the family of planets, moons, asteroids, and dwarf planets held in orbit around it. In the age the whole span is settled, and the Society that rules it measures its reach from Mercury to Pluto.
The Society orders the system by Color. From Luna, Earth's moon and the seat of power, Golds rule at the apex of a caste hierarchy in which every Color is bred and trained to a function, from Obsidian soldiers and Gray police to the Reds who mine helium-3 beneath the surface of Mars. Terraforming has made worlds and moons across the system livable, and the planets of the old star charts, from Venus and Mars out to the moons of the gas giants and the cold dwarf worlds beyond, all hold their place in the Society's order.
