Sevro au Barca is a Gold of Mars in the Red Rising saga, a student of the Institute's 542nd class and the strangest figure in it. Short for his caste at five foot nine, with a hook nose, sharp nails, and a face nobody calls handsome, he passes the entrance tests all the same and goes to House Mars as the last pick of its Draft, taken only when every polished option is gone.
What the drafters miss, his housemates learn. Sevro is feral, foul-mouthed, and indifferent to hygiene, custom, and the opinions of nearly everyone, but he is also cunning, self-sufficient, and unsettlingly good at the harshest parts of the Institute's education. He watches from the edges, keeps his own counsel, and gives his loyalty rarely and completely when he gives it at all.
