Sevro au Barca is a scrawny, foul-mouthed boy on the shuttle carrying new Institute students, so drab that he looks khaki rather than gold, with a face like a hawk eyeing a mouse.
When the princeling Julian takes offence and hurls down a glove, Sevro blows his nose into it and puts off their duel until after the Passage, which he calls the final test and claims to know of through an inside track. He snorts as the others compare their test scores, and Darrow likes his angle. At the house table he sits at the very foot, making no friends.
