Praetorian Guard
The Praetorian Guard is the Sovereign's own body of legions in Red Rising, sworn to House Lune, garrisoning Hyperion's Citadel of Light and serving as both shield and symbol of the Morning Throne.
The Praetorian Guard is the body of legions assigned to the protection of the Sovereign of the Society. Sworn to House Lune and garrisoning the Citadel of Light in Hyperion, the Guard is both a fighting force and a symbol, its presence marking the office of Sovereign the way a crown marks a king. Named legions such as Legio XIII Dracones serve within it, and its ranks draw on the Society's best, from Gray veterans to Obsidian and Gold killers of reputation.
The Guard's duties run wherever the Sovereign's person or will requires. Praetorians keep the Citadel, escort the Sovereign across the worlds, and, when ordered, act as the sharp instrument of the throne far from Luna. For centuries their loyalty has been the quiet fact beneath the Society's politics, the reason the Morning Throne is defended by more than law and custom.
