Pluto
Pluto is a dwarf planet at the Solar System's far edge.
At the farthest edge of the mapped worlds, the dwarf planet Pluto stands as the outer limit of Gold dominion. The saying that Gold rule runs from Mercury to Pluto uses the little world as its endpoint, a measure of how far the Society's claim extends. The real Pluto is a Kuiper belt dwarf planet with five known moons, the largest of them Charon, and its surface carries the bright heart-shaped plain photographed by the New Horizons probe in 2015.
In the Society's order, Pluto is a hardship posting rather than a prize. Golds fresh from the Institute may serve tours there, and the voyage out from the Core takes roughly six months, with layovers at way stations such as Neptune's moon Triton. The dwarf planet first figures in Golden Son.
