Pliny au Velocitor is a Gold of Mars and the chief Politico of House Augustus. He is slender as a salamander, with skin as smooth as a Pink's and a muscularity that is entirely for show. His golden hair is coiled and scented, his eyelashes glitter, and he often wears a muted lipstick. He is crafty, grasping, vain, haughty, and treacherous, caring for very little beyond his own interests and removing anyone who stands between him and them. Clever as he is, he has no wisdom, no courage, and no foresight. He is a lustful man, and harbors an attraction to Virginia au Augustus that he covers by mocking and disparaging her in public.
