The Moon Lords are a power whose aid Darrow hopes to win against the Core, spoken of alongside but apart from the gas giant Governors.
ArchGovernor Augustus warns Darrow that when his year leaves the Institute, some of his friends will be spirited off into their service and the loyalty he has won will not survive it. Darrow tells Lorn that freeing Mars would bring them and the Rim's ArchGovernors to his side, but Mustang fears that unless her father is rescued, they will refuse to help and turn their ships against the rebels instead.
