Born to the Gamma clan at the Martian helium-3 mine of Lagalos, Lyria is a Red: blunt, stubborn, kind with children, and raised with privileges the other clans of the mine never see.
Lyria of Lagalos is a Red of Mars and one of the five narrators of its Iron Gold tetralogy. She is born in 735 PCE at the helium-3 mine of Lagalos, the second youngest of the five children of Arlow of Lagalos, with two older brothers, an older sister, and a younger brother born two years after her. Her family belongs to the Gamma clan, which draws better resources and higher quality goods than the other twenty-three Red clans of the mine, and she idolizes her father. She has brown skin and short curly hair. She is kind, particularly with young children, straightforward to the point of impatience with nonsense, stubborn, and quick to help anyone in trouble, though she carries a mean streak and can be cruel to those around her.
