Jupiter

Jupiter is the fifth planet of the Solar System and by far its largest, a gas giant that anchors the outer worlds. The planet itself offers no surface to settle, but its influence is everywhere. During the terraforming of the system, hydrogen drawn from the gas giants fed the remaking of whole worlds, and its orbit now marks the boundary where the Core gives way to the Rim.

Jupiter's importance lies in its moons. The Galilean worlds, Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto, are counted among the oldest and proudest settlements beyond the Asteroid Belt, colonized in the first centuries of the Society and governed by the austere Gold houses of the Rim known as the Moon Lords. Their sphere holds seas, cities, and shipyards in the shadow of the giant, and the people who live there call the Core's Golds decadent and mean it.
