Heliopolis
Heliopolis ranks second in wealth among the cities of Mercury, a limestone city famed for its chariot races and sheltered from desert storms by a vast shield wall that House Votum built across two converging mountain ranges.
Behind its wall the city slants down to the Bay of Sirens in the south, and it opens the way to the mines along the coast. Flying out over the desert, Darrow watches engineers mounting salvaged ship guns along the top of the wall and judges the place a thorn in his boot, alive with loyalist plots and back-alley murders. The great Master Maker Glirastes is known as Glirastes of Heliopolis.
