Darrow O'Lykos
Darrow O'Lykos is a Red of the mining colony of Lykos, deep beneath the surface of Mars, where he rides a clawDrill as the Helldiver of Lambda clan, digging for helium-3.
After three years in the tunnels, Darrow works the drill at the very bottom of the shaft, the youngest anyone can recall at that post, with fingers that flicker even faster than the work demands. He is rash and scornful of caution, and he chafes at the older men of his crew, his Uncle Narol above all, who would rather wait hours for a scan than risk a gas pocket. He is set on winning the Laurel, the quarterly prize of extra food and comforts that Gamma clan has held for as long as anyone can remember.
