Queen in Overlord is a New World job class and the title of royal women, rarely sovereign in their own right within the patriarchal monarchies that dominate the human nations.
Ruling women are rare enough in Overlord's New World that the title queen carries special weight. Queen is a job class native to that world as well as a station, and a woman can be recognized as queen without holding the class itself.
Queens are the co-sovereign heads of the feudal monarchies, but nations actually governed by one are uncommon: rulership customarily passes to a male heir, and some states, the Re-Estize Kingdom among them, have never in their history accepted a reigning queen. Exceptions exist, such as the Dragon Kingdom, where a queen holds sway, and the Roble Holy Kingdom, whose previous king breaks tradition by passing the crown to his daughter. The station demands sociability, problem-solving, refinement, and above all the burden of producing an heir for the nation.
